Best Jig Saws Under $250

When it comes to affordable jig saws there is really only one name to know, Bosch. There are other companies that make good jig saws but none of them beat Bosch in terms of quality, features, and reliability. Do yourself a favor and just get a Bosch. With that said, there is still a decision to be made as Bosch generally makes several different models at the same price point. Bosch makes two notable models at the $250 price point: the JS572EBK ad JS572EK. Both offer tool-less blade changes, 7.2 amp motors, 800-3,000 strokes/min variable speeds, Precision Control II double-roller system (which does a very good job keeping the blade straight), LED lights, and low vibration operation. The only difference between the two is the handle. The JS572EBK has a barrel grip and the JS572EK has a more "traditional" top handle grip. Which is better comes down to personal preference. Many people, me included, find that the barrel grip offers a little more control but the top handle grip keeps your hands farther away from the work piece and blade which could be safer. If you already have experience with top handle jig saws, you might want to stick with that style but if you are new to jig saws, I would recommend giving a barrel grip a try.
